Lose Weight, Stay Fit

Every January about 75% of the world’s population resolves to lose weight (don’t quote me on that 75%, I
made it up). Are you with me on this? Do you watch your waist expand towards the end of the year? Do you avoid the scale as summer turns to autumn and we head towards :

  • the candy binge fest that we call Halloween
  • followed shortly by the Thanksgiving family foodtacular
  • wrapped in a pretty bow by the season of giving, getting, and cookie eating

What’s a chronic overeating couch potato to do? Well all jokes aside, it’s a new year, and time to explore the options available for creating a new you. There are a couple of things to keep in mind as you weigh your options.   First of all it’s just as important to be healthy and fit as it is to be a healthy weight, and secondly you can’t lose weight or tone up for other people – your motivation has to come from within.

You will need some equipment some knowledge and maybe even some kind of diet and exercise plan. If you travel a lot for business and aren’t crazy about hotel gyms. Or if you just want to add some type of equipment but don’t have a lot of room, you can  get results fast with the #1 Compact Gym System.  This is a good tool if you tend to travel for business  frequently and don’t want to use the hotel gym (that is , if they have a gym).

Walking for Fitness & Weight Loss

I recommend a walking program if you are following me on my lose weight fast plan.  You can do a 30 to sixty minute walk , varying your intensity, around your neighborhood, in the park, or at your local mall.  If you are like me and prefer to exercise in private, then I suggest Leslie Sansone: 5 Day Slim Down or Leslie Sansone: Walk at Home – 5 Mile Fat Burning Walk . When I lost weight previously on the Scarsdale Diet, I stopped going to the gym and only did Leslie Sansone, The Firm (you can try The FIRM Total Body TransFIRMation Kit), and my treadmill (I have had my treadmill for over 10 years and use it a minimum of once a week, it’s a great investment).

Strength Training

My home gym started with a couple of 3 to 5lb dumb bells and a used bench from Play it Again Sports. It has since expanded to include a squat rack, an ab bench and dip/pull up station, a weight bench, and barbells.  This is great for a 45 minute to 1 hour workout 3 or 4 days a week .

However if you are pressed for time, I am really liking Jillian Michaels – 30 Day Shred, I currently do it using Comcast OnDemand, but I guess I will have to buy it sooner or later. Totally worth it at $8.49, works you out in 20 minutes flat, if you stick to your eating plan and do this workout at least 5 days a week, you will definitely lose weight fast!
